The point of the work is not better performance or form of any kind. If you find yourself attracted to this work but are not sure if you will be able to learn the movements, don’t worry. The benefits come whether or not the movements are “performed correctly” or not. The point of the work is your consciousness and your experience of yourself expanding, deepening, revealing more options and potentials. The video on this page gives an idea of the work.
This workshop is offered as an introduction to one of the deepest, most intense self exploration methods on the planet today, taught by one of the most experienced teachers available. The method does not work via the mind, it works via the body/nervous system directly. This is not a workshop for dancers only, although dancers will find a new realm of experience in the work. It is a movement group, and a movement meditation. Phone with questions and concerns 720 203 1855.
“Given very precisely by Gurdjieff as a powerful tool for growth, the practice of the movements creates exceptional conditions for transforming the body – machine so that the forces of intelligence, heart, and action can freely expand. This happens through the development of a certain quality of attention and relaxation.”
- Amiyo Devienne
Amiyo Devienne is one of the foremost teachers of the Gurdjieff Sacred Movements in the world today. She travels the world giving workshops in this method, and will be coming to Boulder, CO in the US in June 2013 for her fifth workshop here.
Sacred Dances: The Method and Effects
Workshop: Included in the workshop is intensive practice of the dances created by Gurdjieff himself as well as study of Gurfjieff’s method called the Fourth Way. The combination of these Movements creates the possibility for the participant to experience an integration of body and no mind which is completely unique. There is no other movement technique or traching that challenges the participant in the same way as the Sacred Movement exercises.
Who can do it: All are welcome. This is not a workshop for dance professionals only, and is not a dance trainingas in for dance technique, although it involves very specific movements and requires some commitment from the participant. It is open for anyone with a desire for self exploration and growth through awareness and challenging the mind/personality structure. It uses movement techniques to break through the habitual structures of throught and feeling, but does not have performance as a goal.
“This workshop changed the whole way I felt and moved in my body.” – Rachael Freeman, Boulder
“Amiyo Devienne has a fire, an intensity and urgency, which I have never experienced in a movements or dance teacher before. She didn’t teach us dance techniques, she showed us a door to another consciousness….” – Clay Phipps, Boulder
“Amiyo is bringing a fire, a concentration to this work that makes it a must do workshop for anyone seeking more awareness and consciousness through movement and dance.” - James St Clair, Boulder
